A boss approval on certain business transactions is as good as getting a blank check. For me, I still need to hold back before doing anything. I do not want to be blamed if I decided that would not be acceptable with my boss's discretions for having the final decisions.
What if your boss is not around to approve business transactions, what would be your call on this?

I understand your caution. It is important to make sure you are following your boss's instructions, but it is also important to use your own discretion and judgement when making business decisions. Ultimately, you have to make sure you are doing what is best for the company and not just relying on your boss's approval.
I would wait for him to come. I can never do financial transactions in behalf of my boss. That's because I might not know his plans for that transactions and has a way he wanted to do it.
What if the boss is unreachable and the issue at hand needss urgent intervention. Would you still have to wait for the boss to come and things get bad in the process?
I don't have relation to money transactions but under business transactions, I consider borrowing equipment to other employes. Officialy my boss must do it but I do that job but always I notice my boss. I still don't have enough currage do it everything on my hand. We don't have specific rules for such stuff and I don't know what happend if do something wrong.
Every organization have a set down rules in every aspect of the business. If the boss is not around, there must be someone who will take over and assume the role of the manager or boss. If it is not your responsibility to over from the boss when he is not around, you should not act on his behalf.
If your boss is not available to approve business transaction especially when a payment has been made, it is very important that you inform the customers on time so that they will decide to make the payment and wait until your boss is available and not taking their payment and keeping them waiting without their consent.
That depends on the company's policy. If I am authorized to approve the deal if my boss is not around, I'll take up the responsibility. Otherwise, I'll put the deal on hold and wait for him/her to make the decision.
Yes I agree with you, if possible I will make a phone call to confirm, if there is no answer I will wait until the boss comes back. I don't dare to make decisions without the boss's approval.
