Is it true that any graduate can work anywhere?

In my country nowadays, they say anyone can work anywhere. That implies that no one is really restricted by his professional inclinations. Engineers work in banks and fishery graduates work on oil companies.

Is it also true in your country? People now just want to get a degree afterall with a degree, they can work anywhere. Do you think this is right?

Anyone that passed through a university can be trained to work anywhere and he or she would easily adapt. That is the reason you see those organizations employ graduates in any field. But is that the reality on ground? Probably.

I do not think it is applicable to my location. Even you get a degree from an university, the job you apply for must be relevant to the education or training you receive in the university. For example, if you apply to work as a social worker, you need to have a degree in social work. Same applies to hi tech or accounting jobs, you need to have a degree in computer science and finance respectively.

I don't think this is particularly applicable to tech related jobs. In tech, it is all about ability rather than qualifications. But banks in my country employ any graduate and train them.

Yes o. The situation on ground in Nigeria warrant any graduates to work anywhere that is even beyond their profession.
Don't be suprised when you are seeing graduates working as commercial motorcycle riders or drivers. Some of them are employed by government to work in community services.

Even though they can work anywhere, such as fishery graduates and Engineers work in banks, they cannot work professionally, meaning according to their expertise, so they only occupy positions that are not important, especially in participating in decision making. In fact, they are often stressed, like my law graduate friend working in a bank, he has to work with numbers/money. debit and credit, so they have to learn from scratch.

Based on my personal experience, it can happen. For example, being English teacher is not my profession, but I can do it. I am not an editor, but I can do essay editing. If a person had his or her education, the more opportunities they can have along the way.

Take it from me you can't do those jobs you highlighted there if you don't have a prolonged professional training in those areas. English is a very technical thing.

Education quality has totally collapsed in Nigeria. There are qualified and able bodied personnels to work but jobs available for them.
The limited jobs available are not enough to fill the thousand of graduates passing out every years. This is why the desperate graduates are ready to work anywhere outside their professional field.

This is why you need to ensure you know what you want to do when you go to college and university to be sure that you have the qualifications they would be looking for.

Let's look beyond connection here. Can any graduate function anywhere. Do you think if one employs a fishery graduate in a bank, he or she can function? They said school widens your mind.

It is not just about connection. There are situations where there s no qualified person found for the job position. I have seen where a school needs a maths teacher and couldn't find a core maths graduate and had to manage an engineering graduate. Is that one connection?

In my country you need to go to university and more in order to get the job also in my country jobs that pays well are taken so even tho they have high education they can still not get the job they want

I am saying this in a modest way. I have been teaching the English language for more than a decade now. I have certificates that make me qualified to teach non-native speakers, such as TESOL, TEFL, etc.

It is believed that some people have the abilities to perform well anywhere irrespective of their professional inclinations. Some people are that good that with some little learning they can function anywhere.
