The pros of not having a business name trademarked are that it can be an inexpensive option for entrepreneurs and small business owners. It allows them to have a unique brand identity without the cost and time involved in registering a trademark. Additionally, it may be easier to change the business name in the future if needed.

The cons of not having a business name trademarked are that it may be more difficult to protect the brand from being copied by competitors. Without a trademark, it can be difficult to stop other companies from using the same name or a similar name. Additionally, it may be more difficult to defend the business name against legal action.

I think one should get his/her business name or brand name trademarked. If your business is running successfully and has a good reputation, competitors will try to "steal" your business or product name.

Pros of having a business name that is not trademarked:
  1. Cost savings: Trademarking a business name can be a costly and time-consuming process. By not trademarking, you can save money on legal fees and other expenses associated with the trademarking process.
  2. Flexibility: If you choose not to trademark your business name, you have more flexibility to change it if needed, without having to go through the process of changing a registered trademark.
  3. Speed: Starting a business can be a race against time, and not having to go through the trademarking process can speed up the process of getting your business up and running.
Cons of having a business name that is not trademarked:
  1. Lack of protection: Without a trademark, there is no legal protection for your business name, and it may be used by another business without your permission.
  2. Confusion: If another business is using a similar name, it can create confusion for customers and potential clients. This can harm the reputation of your business and potentially lead to lost business.
  3. Difficulty in expanding: If you want to expand your business into other markets or sell your products or services in other countries, you may need a trademark to protect your business name.
In conclusion, while there are pros and cons to having a business name that is not trademarked, it is important to carefully consider the potential risks and benefits before making a decision. Ultimately, the decision to trademark or not should be based on the specific needs and goals of your business.

Having a business name is critical most especially for a small business. You would need a business name that is not trademark so that you can start from there and later advanced in the future if the business has grown.

Thr pros is that without a business name you can't easily be identified. so you have your trade name and trademark it to be specifically be used by you alone.

Yeah that's the whole essence you would be able to keep the name to yourself and no other person can use it. That's how it should be anyway for business names.
