I am more familiar with WordPress here and I would love to go for what I am familiar with. I would surely go for wordpress.

Wordpress is good for novices (also for pros), however, if you want to build a robust site try FDrupal or Joomla. These are open source content management systems like wordpress but require a little bit of programming skills.
