Watch for a well dried stem where they picked them for the best indication . At least that works in the US where they grow a lot of watermellon. cantelope, honeydew in hot climates.

I love to eat melons, especially the big and sweet ones. If there is a big truck parking near the highway selling melons, people flock to buy. I only buy one big because it is too heavy to carry 3 kilos of watermelon. It is indeed a very good business for those with wide watermelons farm.
