If you are trying to impress your client, you need to pay the ordered food in a restaurant. However, there are some clients insist to split the cost of something, especially meal. What would be your stand on this matter?

Well if they insist on splitting the bills, if you have tried talking them out of it with no positive results, then there nothing wrong with that.

I think that you should pay the bill first, as long as the customer does not object and wants to split the bill, in any case it's fine, but if you want to give a good impression or make him understand that he is a valued customer, the first option is definitely better.

It depends on who has the higher stake in the business lunch. If you are looking for something from me and we have lunch to talk about it, you would pay.

If s(he) is my client, I would pay the bill. However, if s(he) insist to split, I respect his/her opinion.
I do agree with that. There are some practices or cultures that we need to apply with our clients. Some clients having Dutch is not the right thing to do. I believed in China, the person who invited is the payer of the bill.

Being sensitive is the key of knowing the right action with him or not. I do agree that there is nothing wrong if they split the bills. Although some companies that host the meetings in restaurants should pay them.

you just need to be very sensitive with such customers and ensure that you conduct yourself properly.
