Well, i would always offer them bonuses, if I do not have the ability to promote them to a higher designation due to financial issues in my business. I thing that credit should certainly be given where it is due.

For you to retain your competent employees you must convince them with incentives and goodies that would enable them to continue working on your company. This can be achieved by provision of good working environment and better salaries package among other incentives.
