When I built my first site in 2015, making money was not my primary motive. However, these days the primary motive behind creating a website is to make money. Once my website is ready, I apply for adsense. Upon approval, I started doing SEO and digital marketing to build traffic and revenue. I build blogs, forums, and online stores in the hope to make money. But not all sites will be making money for me.
Is Money Making Your Primary Motive Behind Starting a Website?

When I first started out creating and running forums, my main motive was not to make money from them but to do that because I enjoyed it.
I still enjoy creating and running forums at the moment but if I see an opportunity to make money from the forum then I will do so.

Interestingly, I also learned how to use wordpress by starting my very first wordpress website. I read a couple of tutorials and watched videos and built my wordpress website
Wordpress is very simple so many people start with it. I remebered how my first websites were actually done in html. I download html template, made some changes and add content. It was from adult niche and it bringed money even on free subdomains.
Money was not the primary reason for creating my first website in 2008. I simply wanted to share my experiences and thoughts online and use it as my online journal.
I am yet to build a website but I think that it would be to gain more visibility and reach from many people that are interested in what I do. What I do is what makes me money. So I have never directly planned to earn revenue through a website but rather to use it to achieve my objective indirectly.
