In my previous offline jobs, the only activity that could bring employees together and get acquainted was team building. I do think that it is a normal and common way for the company to build a good rapport and working relationship with them. For online jobs, they can do this by having a series of virtual trainings in groups. In this way, they can build a good foundation for working together smoothly.
Are there any unique practices used at your company to help employees get to know one another?

Team building activities can help employees to know each other. Here, many companies organize outings, Christmas party and Chinese New Year dinner so that employees can socialize in a causal environment.

I do agree that many companies do these things as you had mentioned. If you are working in a Chinese company, they do have a lot of festivals that they can join in to celebrate them.

Inititially, they are going to have an orientation in the company. Then, they can be introduced to the departments that they are going to work with, but it does not happen often because of the continues operation of the company.
I think that getting to know each other is crucial when it comes to working as a single team. This is why it is also necessary to co-operate as well.
We just have an introduction meeting to make the other Staff know about the employment of a new staff. And we handover the person to the Head of his unit to make sure he or she is acquainted.
Back then in camp we had something called Social night, what we do during this nights is to carry out various activities like social competitions and the likes in groups, this would enable us work together and as well get to know each other.
Both of the options mentioned above sound very feasible and I agree that you need to have some sort of event or occasion for the employees to get to know each other in an informal setting, which would thus culminate friendships and a deeper connection to one another - leading to improved work relations and thus better teamwork in the business, improving the organization/business as a whole.
