Why do companies change the packaging of products over time?

Some companies change the packaging of products after a particular type of packaging has been used over a period of time. It might be a new design of sachets or a new material for the packaging. I see my favourite pastries changing the sachet all of a sudden to another colour. What informs the change of packaging? Is it a marketing strategy?

When a packaging of a product stays for a long time, it might get stale along the way lacking that capacity to attract a potential customer. The company has to rejig it and make it attractive again. B

I noticed it in Del Monte Philippines, Incorporated. They keep on changing their packaging. My sister who works there as a Chemist told me that it is necessary to avoid duplication. Many small companies imitated the company's packaging designs.

This is quite true. When you change the packaging unexpectedly, you take those that are busy producing fakes off guard. It makes great sense for brands that have huge sales to be redesigning their packaging often.

That is one reason why we accidentally think that the product we buy s the one we intend to buy because of the packaging. I was a victim of this. I thought it was the band I usually buy because of the packaging.

Not only the packaging should a company change about it's products to ward off people producing the fake version. They should also be changing the design of the products too. All these fake producers can cause great losses to a company.

The new design also follows once change the packaging of the stocks or products. I saw canned good people mesmerized because they have the same color and design. They matter only on the company name.Once people buy, they see first the company name.

Yes, I also noted that companies change packaging for their products from time to time. Nowadays, with people have more concerns on environmental issues, some companies use environmentally friendly materials for packaging, and they make it known on their packaging. Some companies change their packaging to give a new look and make it more appealing to customers.

In my view, they do change the packaging of their products due to cost-cutting concern. It can also be secondary to the requirements by their new or old clients. It can happen in a particular situation.

It is actually a market strategy aim at improving their product by making it more attractive to people , but still I believe in an all round improvement for this to work out, improvement in taste and all.

I get that the packaging of a product might overstay and revamping it would make the attractiveness of the product rejuvenated. It reeks lack of creativity to use a particular style of packaging beyond a year.

Companies would repackaging their products overtime as a result of creativity. Customers tend to be bored of the same monotonous packages of a brand. In order to create a new dimension in the brand in order to create more sales, new rebranding would be adopted.

Some companies also change packaging often because of cost. If the cost of a packaging material suddenly rises, the company instead of increasing the price would switch to another packaging material that is cheaper.

Mostly I have seen here as packaging remain same as people becomes familiar with it and their mind set on that particular packaging, but whenever they need to reduce quantity and increase price they change the packaging.

For me I think that the companies try to convince more customers in the new look of their products and tend to lure the buyers for advertising to them that they have improved the quality on the new packaging.

I believe this is more like rebranding. This is a way to regain the attention of the customers. When business owners rebrand they are simply trying to let their old customers know they are still active and as well attract new customers.

Thinking about cost, some companies may think of changing their package material and can also be seen as a strategy without people even knowing the main reason why they are changing it.
