Its no new news that starting and growing a business from scratch is not an easy job. It requires a lot of time, energy and consistency and not to mention the amount of capital you might have to invest on it. Would you be willing to sell a company that you have built from scratch and is doing well at the moment to another competition?

It all depends on multiple factors. If I have come to a stage where I cannot continue to run the business, even through proxies, I may opt to sell it. For instance, I may have gone into bankruptcy, thus meaning that I can neither fund the activities of the business nor hire a third party to run it.
There are points that people are bored with a particular line of business and may decide to sell the business off. Or they have exhausted all the ideas to grow the business, they might sell it to someone with new ideas to refresh the business.
I will definitely not going to sell it, unless the company will be in a difficult situation. I am sure not all business owners would sell their successful company. It is their pride for being a successful businessman and having their profitable companies.
It is not an easy decision to sell the company you grew from scratch and is making profits. I know a couple who run a textile trading business for many years and the company is doing very well. However, since they want to retire and would like to travel worldwide after retirement, they decided to sell the business. They sold the business at a very good price and are enjoying life now.
You are so right. Why do we need to sell if it is earning and can survive in the business world? I will surely not going to do this becaus such a reason.
Well, if the company is not profiting you enough and you find a better offer for it ,then it's no big deal when you sell it out, but some might have seen where the fault in the business are and want to build on that to make it work, why don't we see that side of it too?
There is an offer that would comes in and it is hard to refuse no matter how emotionally attached you are to the business.
