Paying little but offering free food

A certain Fast Moving Consumer Goods firm in my city is reputed for paying extremely low salaries to its employees. Despite having this image of inhumanness, the company however demonstrates paradoxical kindness to its members of staff. Specifically, this firm gives a half liter packet of milk and a loaf of bread to all employees who work night shifts.

This scenario has left me wondering about the company's intentions in giving out the free food items.
Is there any psychological explanation for this anomalous corporate behavior?

To me i see this as cheating, are they given the milk and bread on a daily basis? And even if it where to be on a weekly basis, you don't expect your staffs to eat only bread and milk and expect they would have enough strength to do their best.

I don't support that exercise. It is not good. Instead of providing free meals to night workers, he should have reviews their salaries and enable them to live better lives.

I actually don't feel this is right, helping them use part of their money in buying bread all the time isn't it at all, they might need the money for other important stuff, so why decide for them.

That is bad in the attitude ofc the businezz. Why must the company engage in the habit of robbing Paul to pay Peter?. If the company want to be doing charity, it must not be cheating on its workers.

In my opinion, this is not a good thing, even his employees are entitled to get a decent salary to meet their living expenses. Because it is impossible to eat bread and drink milk every day, because it will be easy to get bored.

Well, I think the thing here is that the workers are still getting pay in other ways. Food is also costly so the business is still spending on the workers instead of just giving them raw cash

Thisv is not good initiative. For how long will they continue feeding them?. They should review their salaries in order to ameliorate their conditions.

I think this is not fair to the workers at all.
Bearing in mind that the company pays very little salaries to its worker's it's seems the company buys the food products for the workers which is not good.

Yes. The mentioned company is offering free bread and milk every morning.
You are right to point out that the firm's employees cannot survive on bread and milk alone. Nevertheless, I think it is not right to expect the owner to provide the staff members with all their food requirements for free.

i wonder the efficacy of that meal cause for me, milk is a catalyst for sleep, so i wonder the kind of services rendered by these night shifters, my point is raising their salaries to a humane amount is much more better than sleepy night meals

If I'm a worker, I will never be comfortable with getting a little amount of money as my payment of salary and food as compensation. Is it food I come to eat in life?

One thing with ever having to get fed by your employer is that they can leverage on that to play with your salary or delay it. After all, you are eating everyday. I would never take any job that I am being offered feeding regardless if the pay is good or not.

Don't mind them jare. Initiative like this would keep you from expressing your grievances or complaints. They might even been using the system to delay salary payments and the rest of other benefits.

I would not appreciate my employer doing this. I prefer to get a decent salary. Not every employee like milk and bread. The free food should not be a replacement for money.

I think this business seeks to capitalize on people's psychological connection to food. By giving its employees free food, despite not really caring for the welfare of the staff members, the firm intends to capture the subconscious minds of the workers.

I won't subscribe to that kind of mundane arrangement. It is not even as if they are offering some tangible food but milk and bread. That is what you should give to your workers normally to help energize them everyday.

I would prefer to work for someone who would offer me fair pay and also offer me allowances. I am quite sure that food could be considered an allowance in the first place. However, this is not the only thing that I may need.
