A business playing a specific song may thus be assumed to endorse the ideology or agenda communicated in the music. This situation may be problematic to a business that does not want to be tied to any particular ideology/agenda.

What practical measures can a business take to ensure that the music it plays does not lead third parties to misunderstand it?

These days some business owners do not even think this through, they tend to play any song, as long as they feel it is trending. They feel they can use this to attract more people.

This is simple you only play the music that you feel it is good for your business or brand. if the music playing will be bad for your music then eject such immediately

If there is one thing that is bringing customers to shops that play music more than those that do not just like in a barbershop in my region Nigeria. a barber shop that does not play music sees less customers to do switch play good music that the people can vibe to.

I am of the idea that, unless a business owner has an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge about the psychology of the people likely to patronize his venture, he should not rely on gut feelings when choosing the type of song to play in the premises.

The most important thing is for the business to tally along with music. If your business needs music to be played to sell, you must do it.

Exactly pointed out, gut feelings is not the best choice to make when deciding on the type of music to use for your business to attract customers but rather the kind of people you were wanting to patronize your business.

Very true, the kind of music you play says something about you and as well as the kind of customers you hope to attract. You cannot expect to play indecent music and expect to reach out to well known figures in the business world.
