No, not in the recent time. We used to take video cassette on rent around 35 years ago as we had video player in those time.

Earlier on there was no option so we need to do that to watch movies but these days we can easily download movies and watch when we want

The last time I rented a movie or cd was in the early 2000. At the moment there are no stores renting CDs in my area.

I never did that but I remember a videoshop where you do that. We went there copy some documents and books but never rented movie. Somehow I skipped that era.
