There are so many techniques to make your site rank higher in search engine results. Primary among them ks the contents on the site.

What I have wondered often is if a site that has longer contents would rank much higher than a site that has shorter contents.

When you consider that longer contents tend to depict authority in a given niche, there are more likely to be ranked higher than shorter contents.

What do you think about this?

I think it's not the length of the article that can make a blog site to rank higher on the SEO. For me l hope it's the higher quality of the content that would drive traffic for it.

After the latest update to their algorithm by Google, it seems that longer articles don't really rank more. The general rule now is to check the average length of those who are ranking for what you want to write on, then write something similar or a bit longer.

Truthfully, any article that's more than a 5 minute read should be divided into sections.

Content is king. This rule still holds but having just long articles is not only key to success. You must give users something new. Not just users than to Google. When you find new materials your site will be ranked fast and high.

I would say that it isn't just about the length but the quality and depth of the contents. When the contents are interesting to the site visitor, they engage with it and this would signal search engine on the relevance if that content to the inputed query.

Longer content alone doesn't directly improve search rankings - rather, the length should fit the informational needs. Concise yet comprehensive writing best serves users. However, in-depth long-form content over 1,000+ words can perform well by demonstrating expertise through thorough explanations, research, tips and actionable advice. So quality trumps quantity, though depth helps.

One of the criteria for search engine ranking is long content, a content that is just 300 words has a lesser chance of ranking high compared to content that is 100 words.
