How much competition affects your bottom line?

For example, I have a small business in a big city and there are hundreds of people like me and everyone wants to earn as much as possible, but I am sure that if another 100 such owners appeared, my business would not suffer much because I already have regular customers. And how much competition affects your business and would you earn more if this competition were half as much?
