Would you change your business after a year?

I came across someone who said if after a year the business does not do well, the business owner has the right to change to something else. Do you think one year is enough for an entrepreneur to decide if a business is profitable or not? Personally i have seen businesses that did not fo well at all in the first year but pick up speed the next.
