You can use your website to sell products and services. You can use network based monetization method to generate revenue. There are numerous methods to generate income from your website and run it like a business instead of just a random website. The key to generate income from your website is getting regular traffic. There are multiple ways to generate traffic. The most important thing for a website traffic is useful and interesting content that are search friendly.

If you set up a shop on your website, you can run it as an online store and an online store is already a business. You can also sell services through your business. As long as you have enabled revenue generation on your site, it can be your business

I know someone who does something Abit similar, though in his case it is not a website but a page. He uses his page for advertising and selling of products. He has a huge number of active followers, so people tend to pay him to post their products and businesses on his page.

Well, selling items through your website is certainly a business, but even without selling items, you can simply monetize with ads and make profits

You would have to grow the visibility of your site to attract advertisers directly to make the most money out of your site.
