There have been an increase in the need for part time workers on contractors. Most companies now prefer hiring workers for a particular duration, while they have their full time workers already. While this has proven to be effective for most companies, there have been situations where these contractors are not being paid. They complete the job and are promised they would get their pay but most of them don't. What do you think can be done to stop this?

That's nice. It's not the case here. I have heard about so many contractors who are yet to be paid by their companies. The company keeps giving excuses or asking for their details. It's really annoying honestly.
That is unlawful, the contractors need to seek a contract first before doing the work on a construction site to have proof that they are working and deserve a pay on time. That is illegal in your country for contractors not paid on time.
Recently I have gone through the details of my close relative, who she was badly cheated by contractor. He see a lady is operating all construction and thus he took her $2000 and run away. Now she filed case on him. We need to select some well known contractor.
I don't take up any contract with any organisation if I don't receive at least 80% of the contract feez with a valid contract that spells out terms for how the remainder would be paid.
