Retirement plan in my country is not less common but a mandate by the government so employees once retire they could continue living with money. Though it might be small but an employee may request to deduct the retirement premium double.

In my country the only thing that most people do is saving in the government social security fund for the retirement. The bad side of that is only the government staffs are legible for that.

If your employer does not give pensions after retirement, you will have to build your own pension funds. Endowment insurance plan is one of the best ways to build your retirement funds.
