What are traditional gender roles for women in your country?

In my place, it has generally been believed over decades that a woman's place is in the kitchen. The women are fighting hard to erase that notion and they are making progress.
India is slowly evolving in that we see women holding posts as pilots, and in the Army as well as Navy.
I actually don't want my woman to be a home or kitchen champion. I support every lady I have dated to step out and grab the world. But the gender role for women in my country remains the kitchen. The last president we had before this one said on international TV that his wife belongs to his kitchen and the other room.
Traditionally, women's role is housekeeping and cooking. Nowadays, in my place, there is no specific role for both genders. Both can go out to work. There are families with the wife going to work and the husband stay home to take care of the kids and doing household work.
In my country, we are trying to adapt and accept the gender equality. Since we are in the modern world, we need to embrace the changes now.
