It was my husband's responsibility to manage household expenses My money was used for buying things such as curtains, bedspreads and even spend for parties. The daily expenses were handled by him.

Most do that I am sure. We have our bank accunts where both can deposit and withdraw.
I contribute to my parents' household expenses and also provide additional funds for their medicine purchases. It is challenging when you are the only person helping them and you have an unstable income.
Same with me, my husband handles daily expenses. I used to help when I worked, but I'm now a stay at home mom for the time being.
I am not yet married but I am of the opinion that household income must be brought to the open and we get to manage the expenses together.
