Well, I have never experienced this maybe because I plant mostly vegetables so I still have a good harvest

I can feel the sentiment. One of my friends have rice fields. They cannot harvest much if experiencing heavy typhoons.

It is the other way in our garden. Bumper crops but no takers. Many times we have to dump them in compost pits.

I would at least have something left than can make me money. For instance, in the corn field, your corn might entirely destroy but you can still use corn stalks as fodder for animals
