For, me I believe that cutting back on things that don't enhance your financial life is the best strategy to save money.
This depends on what you call "emergency funds". Many people do not even believe in this concept and they tend to have a different savings plan.
1. Prepare home-cooked meals and avoid eating out as much as possible.
2. Turn off appliances that are not in use.
3. Buy in bulk if possible.
4. Conserve water.
5. Adopt the “savings first” approach.

My top five tips to save money are;

- avoid carrying a lot of cash on you - avoid borrowing or only borrow when necessary
- always try to be consistent with your savings
- always stick to your budget.

I put a portion of my earnings into a fixed deposit account every month; I always look for good deals such as buy one get one free; I join free loyalty program which rewards points which can be converted into cash when you make a purchase; I use credit card to get cash back. I never paid any interest for the credit card because I paid the bill on time. And, I never spend more than I earn.
I save money by purchasing necessary items only. I always avoid purchasing items that I do lot need at all.
