Do you pay for funeral contributions in your community?

Usually, there is a donation box in every funeral chapel here in my country. Whoever visit the funeral, they can give any amount of money.
This is common in my country, especially the countryside. There are times that government officials give donations, too.
We do not have such a practice here. The funeral expenses are paid by family members of the deceased. But friends and relatives do contribute money or send flower wreath
We typically provide some help to the family of the deceased, but often they are responsible for covering most of the funeral expenses, especially if they are financially capable.
