If your boss is incompetent or not, you still need to show your politeness in disagreeing him or not. At some point, we still need to continue professionalism. In the first place, we are hired as puppets for not sharing our thoughts over something.

This actually happened to me when my boss had been promising to send me to an Educational Seminar up until the last moment and backed down with the excuse they could not afford it, maybe next year. The next week he drove up with a brand new Porsche and I quit and started my own company.
Really? So it all depends on the boss' attitude. There are bossy, and there are also leader-like.This is sad that even when I know my boss is wrong I have to agree with him because he doesn't like it if someone doesn't like his decisions.
I do not think I have ever had the guts to strongly disagree with any of my bosses . At best I would bring things to their notice.
If I disagree with my boss, I would express my opinion in a polite and respectful manner. Afterall, I have to work with him/her unless I am prepared to quit.
Depending on the nature of your boss, it's best you have a talk with them and let them know how you really feel. In a situation where your boss is not the type willing to talk, it's best to go along with them as long as it does not go against your beliefs.
