Are Meta keywords, tags, and description useful for forums?

I notice some forums uses tags/keywords, descriptions but I'm not sure how useful they are for forums since not all forums have them set up to work correctly, and it might make posting on forums more complicated if there is also a description and tag textbox to fill out in the post editor.

But, I think tags might make it easier for users to look for similar topics by clicking tag links like in blogs.

Many webmaster don't believe that tags and keywords is still relevant. According to them, Google bots index without meta tag and keywords nowadays. I still believe that tags is still contributing immensely to quality users experience. And what many people don't know is that SEO is all about users experience.

Maybe they didn't set them up since they don't know how to do it. Also it is not easy choose keywords, especially if you have general forums. I guess it is easier if you have some niche, like football or at least sport, even sport is wide theme.

Many things got deprecated like even meta tag and meta keywords and og description and og image, so there is a lot of things in SEO of image or SEO of topics that gots deprecated over the time.

Yes you need it so that your content will easily be found among all the numerous contents that are present on the internet. it is always good to give your content tags.

I don't get search traffic on my three forums but I do get traffic from searches on one of my forums. This forum uses meta keywords tags. Therefore, I believe these are important for a forum to get search traffic.

They are auto-chosen by the CMS if you write a new article you are using this is why they are so helpful.

For the forums that I am active in, I have never found out that they use the mentioned tags and keywords. I think they can give the posters a very hard time while navigating the sites.

These Meta tags and description are needed by websites they are extremely useful even to forums it will help to attract audience as they will follow them when searching for a keyword

I do think that search engines still use meta keywords, just not as much as before. It actually helps in categorizing topics for users, so it's better to use it than to ignore the comfort of your users.
