Can one make money as a vault or safe specialist?

I am referring to the work of someone who repairs safes or vaults. Vaults are were valuable. documents or cash are stored
Just recently a colleague called me up and ask for referrals for a vault technician who can open their office vault because the custodian of the vault passed away and no other person knows the combination. The technician charged them a whooping 300 dollars for the job which lasted for only a few hours. It's a specialist job and not anyone can do the job. Anyway the amount paid is compensated because they were able to recover the cash kept inside the vault.
I also hired the same guy and paid him 50 dollars to change the vault combination in our office the job was done in less than 15 minutes.
How much does a vault specialist charged in your area?

This mechanical technician is just like plumber who are on call basis... Their main service is repairing safes, vaults filing cabinets, locks and some tinsmith works but some have developed the skills of opening vault safe even if they do not know the combination and this is where they charge more. As to my colleague who hired the technician to open the vault they do not know the combination because the cashier who knew the combination passed. the vault is intact and not broken it just can't be opened without the right combination.

I believe you can charge a good rate for providing such service. But I wonder if there is a lot of demand for this job. I think there should be other sources of income other than working on this one.

If this person is well-rounded and can do other repairs, then it is a good job for me. If he or she is specialist in repairing vaults, I think it is not viable.

Vault or safe repairing or making is a good business. But it is not a business that moves as other businesses. They are mostly patronize by corporate organizations or rich people who have vaults in their homes. Average citizens do not have safes in their homes, instead they keep their valuables in the banks.

I agree with you. I use to rent a deposit box in the bank where I kept my passport because it's not often used and few jewelries I only paid 2 dollars a year. We have a built in vault in the office Which I had the combination changed if there's a change in the designated disbursing officer of which I would hire a vault technician to change the combination.

Most of them have other sideline works especially some mechanical jobs in shops. I was just amused at his ability of of being able to do it. Safe combination is exclusive to the person but he knows how to run about the combination without destroying the vault.

Most of them have shops doing mechanical or some electrical repairs such as. repairing electric fan, washing machine etc.

Why not, as long as you know your worth, you can charge a good rate for providing this service. The thing is to do a good job and you would get paid

Wow, I like that skill, that person studies it. What do you think is the course name of that? I think we can enroll in TESDA. It is a very rare skill, yet a profitable job.

I think this will be profitable but not really lucrative as it might not be sought after by a lot of people. You just have to look for your target audience to create awareness

This kind of job could be affiliated to big corporations as their in house vault specialist The vault specialist if he is only wise, he could create a website and advertise his expertise.

It is an amazing skill to have and such a skill is rare. Such a person would be highly patronized by banks because they are about the only people that use vault safe for a few corporate organizations.

It might be nice though but i highly doubt you would be getting lots of customers on a daily basis. Cause not everyone uses volts these days, unless maybe you have this as a side gig while you do other things to earn money.
