Dealing with underperforming employees

In a business set up there is always that employee who does not produce the needed results, as a manager or business owner, how would you support and encourage such employees, or would you simply lay them off.

If I were their manager or the business owner, I will encourage those underperforming employees to undergo regular trainings, I'll let them train until they perfect their craft.

For underperforming employees, I'll talk to them about my worry about their performance. Let them speak out the problems they encounter. I'll also provide the necessary training to them. However, if I find out that their underperformance is due to procrastination, laziness, or unfit skill sets, I may issue warning letter. The last resort is dismissal.

In my work i rate and evaluate employees performance twice a year. I evaluate my subordinates according to their actual work performance. Inoften tell my staff that i can give a grade as high as 5 which is the highest rating and as low as one which is the lowest.

Underperforming employees should be made ware of thier poor performance as soon as possible. And then you observe them, if there's no change then warning letters will do. If that doesn't move them either then it's time.to let them go.

I will try to talk with over their performance and see if there is any way I can help them. If not, I will find another area in the company where they can work . If they fail in the second placement,I have no option but fire them.

Keep encouraging them in every way possible, and once in a while you give them some incentives and also appreciate their efforts no Matter how little it is.

As a Manager, you have to take a staff that doesn't perform through some training and orientation. You would see if he or she is teachable. If he or she is not teachable, you can lay them off.
