Decline in the number of .com,.net domain registrations

Verisign has reported a decline in the number of com,.net domain registrations . Other than the decline in advertising revenues, what do you think is the reason for the decline in .com, .net domain registrations?

Users go in some others domain extensions like .live or .blockchain. Also some blockchain networks allow mine free domains as NFT. Looks like people don't think .com is most popular anymore. I guess apps take part of cake to.

There is even .blog or .forum extensions or .shop that seems more determinative than .com or .net.

With the coming of blockchain and crypto, many brands prefer to take an extension that relates to crypto and blockchain. Extensions like io, nft, chain has increased of recent.

I don't know the data but it dot com and dot net registrations have declined that's because there are numerous other options available.
