Do you have scavengers in your country?

They are a lot of scavengers here in my region. They search for and collects discarded items to resell. Could to his be a lucrative job?

There are some people do this in my country. I had experienced doing this with my childhood friends before.

No But Most countries have some level of informal sector workers who make a living by collecting and selling recyclable materials from garbage. Called scavengers, waste-pickers, or rag-pickers, they play a vital role in reducing waste sent to landfills and providing inexpensive raw materials to industries.

We do not have them any more. When I was a child I remember them coming to clean our toilets.

Scavenging is almost looking to be highly profitable. These scavengers have some companies that they partner with to sell those items to.

We have lots of them in my areas as well, most of them usually come to where we throw dirty to search for things. There have been cases where some steal things as well.

I think in my city, there are some elder people who collected carton boxes and re-sell them. I have no idea how much they make but it's a tiring job.

The thing that annoys me about these scavengers thing is that it is small kids of 8 to 10 years old that dominate the activity.

Sadly, there are scavengers in my home country as well, and it pains my heard to see most of them are children and teens. The government has been unable to tackle this issue
