Does a domain name have any significant impact on a site's SEO performance? I have heard some experts say that a keyword-rich domain name can help a site rank higher in search results, while others claim that the impact is minimal and other factors such as content quality and link building are much more important.

What do you think? Have you seen any evidence that supports or refutes the idea that a domain name has a significant impact on a site's SEO?

I can't say for sure. I will definitely like to know. SEO is very complex and unfortunately search engines is not revealing all the criteria they are using in ranking. Lets wait and see if anyone can be able to give us the answer

For SEO, the domain name has no bearing on the visibility of your site in search results. It might have a bearing on the overall number of people who visit the site. A simpler domain name can be easily remembered.

Yes, a domain name can have an impact on a website's search engine optimization (SEO). However, it's just one of many factors that search engines consider when ranking a site.
Here are a few ways a domain name can affect SEO:
  • Keyword relevance: If your domain name includes relevant keywords, it can help search engines understand what your site is about, which can positively impact your rankings.
  • Brand recognition: A memorable and recognizable domain name can help build brand recognition, which can make it easier for people to find your site through search engines and directly.
  • Top-level domain (TLD): The TLD, such as .com, .org, or .net, can also affect SEO. Search engines may view certain TLDs as more authoritative or relevant for certain topics, which can impact your rankings.
  • Exact match domains (EMDs): Exact match domains used to be a popular SEO tactic, where the domain name exactly matched a target keyword. However, due to increased abuse, Google now gives less weight to EMDs as a ranking factor.
Overall, while a domain name can have some impact on SEO, it's important to focus on creating high-quality content and building a strong overall website to achieve long-term SEO success.

The key to have a good rating on search engines is to have quality contents. All other factors are secondary. They don't have much bearing on the performance of the site on search engines.

But you could for example change domain name later means it is not recommanded way but some people are doing changing the domain name this is could be done sometimes if website owner wants to change the domain name.

You wouldn't have said this if you knew about what exactly SEO is. Keyword-rich domain has great SEO value. If the website uses high traffic keywords on the name, it has an advantage over other websites on the similar niche.

Yes, domain names will affect SEO provided that the name shows topics of the website with relevant keywords, is short or memorable so that it can be shared by people easily, and uses domain country code like “.com”. Instead, direct actions such as quality contents, strong technical foundations, good user experience and quality outbound links first. Mostly, it is in the process of reinforcing rather than driving efforts towards the right domain.
