Does GPS/ location services drain the battery of smartphones?

I have observed that if I keep my location and GPS on, my battery drains much faster. My battery would drain almost two times faster than normal.

Is it that in all smartphones, location and GPS drains battery?

For me l have never tried out that on my phone. However l have a feeling that there is that possibility

If you keep apps running in the background, they will certainly drain your smartphone battery. GPS service work on background

I too have experienced that. Apps that operate on the background really use up the phone's batteries

I think that those apps have a higher hand on the usage of battery of the phone.

Most apps that tend to use too much data also drains the phone's battery for that matter.

I think for people living in countries that power is a big deal, they should always turn off their location services whenever they are not actively using it because it drains battery.

Yes it does, I have left my phone gps on on several occasions before and I discovered that the battery tend to run down a lot faster than when it was off.

Some devices would just drain their battery so fast without any reason for that matter

At the end of the day nothing like the good old way of loacting a place by spotting landmarks about which one should first have knowledge of I am sure the battery will get used up for such activity

The technology is changing and l think longer lives battery should be invented for the same.

I do like the GPS though. It makes it easy for people not to be lost. I think it is just ideal that you only use them when it is absolutely necessary to preserve battery life.

It's no wonder that the mentioned apps can drain batteries of the smartphones because they consume too much of Data.

I have never really had to use the location services except apps like Xender asks for it. My GPS is always majorly odd most times.
