Does retrieving the packaging materials of a product stop it from being imitated or faked?

Recently, in a saloon I use to make my hair, people from the leading company that sells hair attachments came in to get the packaging materials of the used hair extensions. They say they are doing so to stop imitation of their products in the market.

Does retrieving used packaging materials of products stop it from being faked?

No it doesn't, I have seen fake products of popular brands, these brands have never even told anyone how it was made, but people would still try to copy it.

it doesn't stop anything. Do you know that they are some people that hardly know the original of some products. They just buy what they see.

I do not think this will stop the products being imitated. If someone is creating fake product he can obviously create fake packaging.

The best thing to do is to ensure that the production formula of the product be kept a secret as much as possible. That would stop imitation.

I think it is not. It is best to patent the products, so that they will not copied by other companies.

For me l think that can't help at all. Most people would try to fake the brands in most ways.

Frankly speaking the perpetrators comes with informed Ways of imitating and faking products for that matter.

Faking one's products is a criminal offense in my country. The perpetrators can really be jailed or heavily fined for the same.
