It is a dirty business tactic that they do to survive in business. For me, it is not a fair game because it can bring down the state of others and they will gain bad reputations. It is common practice in all organizations where workers made several attempts to blackmail one another out of envies for the mere reason of clinging that superior position.

In some industry sectors, like the internet sector the problem is very severe for small online business owners. Powerful large companies are extremely vicious in spreading fake defamatory rumors about small online business owners without any kind of proof to destroy their reputation completely.
I always believe that competition in business should always be healthy but some people take it too far and it ends up hurting a lot of people. Business people are not pampered babies. They are rugged and know what is at stake per time.
