Fixed deposits or mutual funds?

These days there is an increase in the interest rates of bank fixed deposits at the same time there is a fixed income mutual fund category. Not sure what to choose What about you?

Even though Mutual Funds have higher returns, I would choose Fixed deposit over Mutual Funds. I have no particular reason for this

It is difficult to predict the returns on mutual fund , the performance depends on the fund manager. So it is better to divide the investment between the mutual fund and fixed deposits.
