It is indeed that it is fine to say the reason to the manager directly and seriously. Although it is best to submit a formal resignation letter. It is the best way to document things up when quiting a job.
The best way is to drop a resignation letter and by being polite instead of being rude

After 8 years of working in Gsk when I given my resignation letter to my manager, he refused to accept it and told that you are the best sales person here you must not resign but I was supposed to become manager in other company so I left the company.

And I hoped they paid you well as the best sales person. So many organisations recognize a person's worth after the person must have left the organization. I am proud you made your mark in that organization.

How can one quit a job without getting into the bad book of the previous workplace. You know you never can tell when you would be needing any help from your previous workplace. How can leaving one job for another be done without issues?

I believe that every company have a procedure on how a staff can actually quit or resign from their job and if you will make sure to follow those procedures, you will always be on good terms with your previous job.

One thing I can chip in is that no matter how good in terms your quitting is, they would always say bad things about you after you leave. I mean the owner of the organization. Especially if you were a valuable staff. It is always painful to let good staff go.

I believe that most decent, professional workplaces have provisions on how a person can exit. That is, these workplaces are not offended if a member of staff chooses to leave.
In that case, a person can exit without arousing antagonisms by following the laid down protocols.

Quitting is not necessary mean we are giving up. I believe the best way is to tell the management that you are leaving your current job for another opportunity. Before giving them the resignation letter make sure that you are already hired from another company. And once secured with the new job, tell them that you are resigning effective 30 days from today.

That will give your employer the chance to look for your replacement. And during your rendering period, you can train the person who will take over when your 30-day resignation notice is over.

The thing that causes bad blood with resignation is when you leave a company stranded in the middle of nowhere. It is wrong to do that and you could be sued for that.

This is how it should be. It will not be nice for you to think about leaving a workplace and you will not notify them so that they can find someone who is fit for your role

Sometimes, even when you follow the due process, the company still gets hurt when certain staff leave. But the approach is what minimizes the hurt. Some staff are the bedrock of some organizations.

Best is write statement where you announce your leaving and wait for answer with notice period. If nobody can't sue you later you can always choose stop coming at work. It is fastest way.

For me the best way to quit a job is through presentation of the resignation letter to the human resources office and wait for their feed back on the same.

Before you quit job, you must get back all equipment you get it. If you don't turn it back they can sue you for damage. Also ask confirmation paper about it.

Do not quit job when you are not in good terms with the employer because that could be a bad record which may be written for you and may affect securing other jobs in the future.

I saw few cases where people turn back assigned work equipment such as laptops and didn't ask certificate of discharge. Company try accuse them how they didn't get back that euipment and charge it.

The best way to quit a job is to ask permission to leave some time before actually leaving the company. He must know what he will do after quitting his job, whether he wants to build a business or work for another company. etc.
