You are right I do this a lot. And I bargain a lot too. in Nigeria if you cannot haggle well with these sellers them they cheat you of your money.
The only way that consumers can protect themselves against the exploitation of the traders is when they are conversant with the control price of the goods and services.
I would check the reputation of the trader; compare prices of different traders; inspect the goods before buying. If the deal is a big one, I would sign a contract with the trader with terms of penalties on defected goods.
The best way is to get reviews from people that have previously patronized the seller. Whether it is offline or online, try and get the opinions of forner patrons. It is very valuable.
That's cleverly worded. It is important to be teased on the different prices so that you will be able to make comparison and choose the one that you think will suit your pocket and it is one of the ways to be economical as well.

I think nowadays everyone is a little bit cunny.
Even in the business sector, there are business people that are not faithful and that can exploit their customers so much. So here they must be extra vigilant when buying from them.

A consumer should be observant and must truly check the expiry date and government certification before buying. A customers must also make sure that a product that he is buying have tamper proof. Once th tamper proof was touch, the customer should desist from buying it.
Consumers should always try to make price comparisons as well.
Before you buy anything, you should compare prices from different dealers and know the ceiling. So that when you approach a dealer, you approach as one that has a perfect knowledge of the price. They can't cheat you when they observe that.
I am very aware that so many consumers are exploited simply because they cannot make comparisons and choose the best competitive price of items.
