How do you know smart people

If you want to make friends with very smart not knowledgeable but outstanding people how can you easily detect them?

I don't really care if they smart or not but you can detect if they are if you are friends with them for quite a while I know a friend that is very smart

I can tell by your appearance and your words when you talk if you're intelligent, smart or not don't really know but that's just something am good at telling if someone is smart or not.
