How does one become a moderator?

I don't think moderators are even paid that much. But to be a moderator, you need to have a good knowledge of webmaster and websites management with particular emphasis on web Forum management.

A moderator Job is never a full time job capable enough to sustain a person even of you are moderating on several forums. Most moderators are website owners themselves and understand the workings of content management systems.

Are you sure you want that job? Being moderator is much harder than you think. You can not just ban people as you like and there is many posts on edge of breaking community rules.

I was a moderator for someone on twitch and now on kick. I am not there all the time so it is not a paid position. I could never put the time in that they would be looking for to be paid

Most moderators are being paid but the pay is not a livelihood sustaining pay. It is just a little incentive to help you stay motivated. There are people that are moderators or Staff accross several forums. The pay might make sense a little bit of you accumulate it that way.

You have to fill out the application when the site asks and have to pass an exam. But if you think moderators are paid well on the sites then you are mistaken.

For you to be a moderator in a group or in a website you have to be a active member that abide the rules and regulations of the group or website and this will increase your income in the website

It helps when you are a good poster and on RIF admin invited applications some time ago and the deserving ones were offered mod roles and its a paid job so that's a good thing

@Hate2Wait you were the moderator when I joined this site. What happened what did you leave this job? What does the site pay for the moderator? I remember I was on some site where the moderators used to get good incentives.

Moderators on RIF are volunteers. They don't receive any incentives for just being a moderator. Moderators on Bizdustry are paid, how much, its a trade secret that I will not reveal.

Well, I just believe moderators should be able to enjoy some certain benefits forum members don't enjoy, like maybe not compulsory for them to subscribe to gold membership before they start earning high and also they may be able to place their withdrawals easily as in a case of bizdustry.

It could be really depressing to be a moderator. You would be seeing some amazing things that can even make you sick. That job needs someone that has a balance of being firm and rational at the same time.

I earlier heard from admin that they are planning to pay mods so I am not sure why you are not getting paid or could be I misunderstood and they will be volunteers only

Of course yes, a moderator is someone who has a vast knowledge of webmastering skills, websites and one that is active on the sites. Moderation job is not that easy to do and the payment is usually low.

I was a moderator on PostBucks and when it merged to Bizdustry, I became a moderator on Bizdustry as well. Until recently I had moderator capabilities on a forum called Admin Junkie but I could not give time to the forum so I am no longer a staff there.
