Yeah it is always good to check that you have accomplished your duties that needs deadlines to avoid running late
First of all you need to organize yourself and the work you have at hand. This can be done by using reminders and a to-do list to sort out your tasks for the coming days or weeks. And then when you have everything lined up and you are working at the required pace, it surely won’t be hard to meet deadlines.

First of all, the deadline set must be accomplishable. Once you agree to submit your work on or before the deadline, focus on doing the work and avoid any distractions.

There is an approach called PERT - Programme Evaluation and Research Technque. This approach ensures keeping to dealines.
