I planned to start a blog. It was basically a multi-niche blog. I was told that i must focus more on one specific niche and try to gain as much readers as possible for the blog. I never knew about the importance of niche at that time. Having said that, I would now like to start a health blog. What are some of the great ideas about this niche?

To start with, health is one of the largest competitive topics to start blogging in. But hey, if you are really passionate about it and want to get started, I would strongly advise you to take on a smaller niche within the health niche and channel your blog solely on that topic,one benefit of doing that is that it makes you command respect and attain a level of mastery in that particular topic or niche, instead of being a jack of all trade,and at the end thereof being master of none
For example you could specialise on topics like weight loss(what to do and what not to do)
Topic like eating right
Topic or niche like exercise
Topic or niche on healthy food
