One of the many parts of being able to learn and potentially advance in your chosen job choice, is to put yourself outside of your comfort zone while on the job. This could be speaking up in meetings that you have to attend, to asking those questions that may seem awkward to ask or too stupid to ask.
And honestly, there is a phrase that goes with asking questions. The phrase, "All questions are technically stupid, if you refuse to ask it, or ask it repeatedly. Once you ask it, it will no longer be stupid, if you learn from the answer and end up not having the same question as before, but new questions. All in all, if you ask and learn nothing, the question remains as a stupid question."
One of the things I learned that would help with advancement, is that if you are working for a company that will actually pay based on your willingness to learn more about the job, and be willing to do more with that learning, that that particular company would naturally give you the pay raise if you actually ask for the pay raise, once you learned how to do a wider variety of on the job tasks.
So, what are your thoughts on doing things outside of your comfort zone, that allows for eventual learning of how to do a job better?
