Is graphic design and media work the same?

It seems the two professions all have to do with images. Can the knowledge of one be used to be effective in the other?

I think graphics has to mainly do with images whike media is a combination of voice still and motion. So it's not the same.

I will never categorise graphic design work as a media work because there is a good difference between the two of them which set them apart. Graphics design is more of a freelancer work.

There is quite a difference between graphic designers and media work. With graphic designers, they create still graphics for businesses and companies whereas with media it is more video related with some graphic work involved but it involves animating the graphics so is a lot different from still graphics and does require more skill.

I think the two are different entities altogether. Graphics involves images while Media is the work is the dealings in the sound production with both pictures and images in motion.

That's another wonderful point that you have raised because with graphics design, you are dealing with images and most especially you are dealing with designs but with media, you are really not dealing with images.

Both media and graphic designs are definitely not the same . They may have some similarities but they have a clear-cut difference because one involves a design and the creation of images while the other does not involve images.

Graphic designing and media work are two different things but it's somehow related. Graphic designing has to do with editing of images, media has to do with motion pictures, making visuals, etc

No i do not think they are the same thing, graphic designing has to do with mainly creating from scratch a design to carries a specific message. Though you can still make use of some of your graphic designing skills in media work.

Both graphic design and media are two different things entirely and they are two different professions.

It is not clear what the OP means by media work. Media is a generic word used for images, graphics, videos, podcasts, etc. Graphic designing involves working on static media (photos)
