Investing in electricity or any electrical utilities is considered as an example of defensive investment, due to the fact that electric is used all round the year, so it is a stable from of investment. Though this is considered lucrative but do you think this particular investment can be considered Lucrative in all countries? Lets take countries that are suffering from poor power supply, would investment in this be considered lucrative?

In Africa especially West Africa countries, investing in energy sector or electric utilities is very lucrative. A lot of chinese entrepreneurs are investing heavily on solar energy technology for African market. West African sub regions need alternative means to energy which solar is the best alternative.
I have a vision of owning a solar power generating plant that can power my Street. I would be charging residents money for usage.
I have bought some stocks in China Light and Power, one of the two electricity providers in Hong Kong. I receive dividends from the company on a regular basis. It is a pretty low risk investment.
Well investing in electricity is very much profitable to any country at all that is if they have the source just like Nigeria my country we do have the source but the government are not serious with it and there by they privatized it as those who bought shares are the ones making all the profits that is supposed to go into national Treasury and benefit everyone in the country as it will be use to make more and better projects in the country.
