Most of these people doing such business usually have left overs when they are just starting and also depends on the condition of the day and the season at times and that may lead to such person consuming or giving out the leftovers.
Anything that have to do with selling of food either in its raw form before it is prepared is always lucrative because people will always buy it.
It is a very promising business because we cannot do without food in our life and also beverages even though you do not like it that much. We need them and investing in that kind of business will never be bad. You won't regret it
The food and beverage business is very lucrative. People need food in all places and so there is so much market for it. But then you still need to identify your market audience well as that will determine what food you will sell and what prices will be favourable to them.
Yes you are right, I have experienced it when selling food. There were days when sales were quiet and there was a lot of food left, as a result we ate it ourselves and some of it we distributed free of charge to our neighbors. Sales in the food business are difficult to estimate.

I admit that the F&B business is very promising and profitable, the most important thing is don't get the wrong target market/consumers, because a few years ago you have set up a food stall targeting factory workers and low-income people, the business has been running smoothly and successfully, but it's cooks who have experience working at the hotel proposed to turn it into a restaurant, after changing the building and making it a restaurant, the business became quiet, only a few people visited every day. Of course in the end the business loses and is closed.
Because the location will greatly affect business, the restaurant is only suitable to be established in a strategic city center because the target market is middle to upper class people. The majority of factory workers are middle and lower class people.

Failure is an experience, at that time I set up a rice shop on Jalan Kartini Bekasi, there were several factories with many factory workers, but unfortunately, the change to a restaurant turned into bankruptcy.
Yes, it's true, failure will be a valuable experience and lesson. This happened because the target market was wrong, with food stalls turning into restaurants, people would be reluctant to come because they were worried that the prices would get more expensive. Meanwhile, factory workers usually have a mediocre income, so they have to downsize.
The reason why the business is very lucrative is because it's something people make use of on daily basis so they cannot afford not buying it all the time.
