I remember seeing shops nearby having large piles for folded clothes ready to be delivered to their customers.

Laundromat shop has evolved, from full service to self-service or do-it-yourself laundry.

Do you think it is still a relevant business since more people has acquired their automatic washing machines at home?

It is still a very lucrative business. Many people are simply lazy that they find it difficult to put food inside their mouth. Some people are so busy that they only have time to work and sleep. . Therefore, the business is very very lucrative.
