I'm not sure if this is a lucrative business in my location. Many people own camera and projector. Seminars and conferences organized by companies usually take place at a hotel which will also provide such equipment.
In my country peoples rent a cameras and camera lights for some ceremonies and for wedding programs and birthday programs, they get payment per day and its very profitable to rent cameras. but the thing is its very hard to trust a person that you don't know to rent your product.
That's true, where i used to work before, we usually rent cameras out but like you said, most of these cameramen are not trust worthy. If you are not careful, some would even steal your or exchange your battery..
