Misleading business advertising.

I have heard of studies that mention that on average, atleast 75% of advertising is misleading, at best. Can you think of any particular advertisement or commercial that you consider misleading?

I always have doubts on advertisements placed by companies selling health care products. I wonder if the benefits offered by the health care products are true or not.

There is an advert back in the days that was done by a bank called Bank PHB. The advert used to show us that one day, cars would drive on water. I used to believe it as a child.

I won't say it is misleading per say. The advert I have found confusing was when I saw a boy playing Football so well after eating a particular brand of noodles. It implied that the skill of playing football was in the noodles.

This is very true, it might even be more than that percentage. I remember watching an ad that was talking about a product needed to wash pots and the likes. They made it look so easy, only to buy it and realize that you would need a lot of energy to use it and it is not even as effective as the ads.

The worst ones are those that are selling herbal products in my country. One product that they are selling from their adverts can cure at least 20 diseases and health conditions.

I noticed that some e-commerce platforms are not monitoring the activities of their sellers. Some of the sellers post their items that can be deceiving. The incidence of the deception is too high.

You won't really say they are misleading but subtle. Like Guinness being a mark of friendship. I know people that gather and drink Guinness and still poison each other. It is just being creative.

Whenever I am asked about misleading advertisements the first thing I think of are fast food places such as McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, and KFC.

All the advertisements I see for these places, the food looks perfect and you expect to receive your food just like that and you never do, that to me is false advertising but we still go for them and eat them regardless so they really do get away with it.

Business advertising is always misleading one almost all the time. And that's the reason why a lot of people dislike advertisements because they are misleading and you can never trust them

For me I can say that there is nothing like accurate advertising. 99.9% of the advertising leads to false advertising in one way or the other in a matter of fact.

It is completely a misleading advertisement because there is no relationship between eating a model and been able to play football which is completely out of the context of what they are advertising.

You won't say it is out of context. We may not understand the message of the advert. I am sure the advertiser and some other people understand. We are only using our literal senses to interpret.

In the advertising sector, there is something called the business language. So according me it's the business language that leads the advertisers to be seen as misleading when executing their business tasks.

There are many business advertisements that are misleading to the society. Some of them are gender abused that play much emphasis on relevance of male child over baby girl. Like the case of advertisement of MTN displayed on national tellies few years back.
Another one was the one using adolescent girl to promote condom product. This is antisocial.
