I have come across various business owners who usually finds it hard to say no to their customers when they ask for credits or even when they know they would not be able to deliver on time. They assume saying no would drive their customers aways. What's your take on this?

If that customer is a repeat customer, it means the seller and the customer already built goodwill. There is no doubt the customer would have a word of honor. The seller will surely let the customer buy in installments. And there should be a written agreement that failure to pay means something to be brought to law.

It is quite difficult for a business owner to refuse to give credit to customer that is patronizing the business. In business, we only give credit to customers that we trust but unfortunately they will sometimes refuse to pay the credit. It is quite uncomfortable and unfortunate.

I always honest to my customers, if i have a lot of orders i say it loud and clear and i tell them the estimation time. And i will say NO if they ask for credits.

I know the quality of my products and my customers knew it too.

My take on this is that it is important for business owners to be honest and realistic with their customers. While it may be difficult to say no, it is ultimately better for the customer and the business in the long run. If a customer asks for something that is impossible to deliver, saying no is the best option as it will prevent the business from wasting resources and time on something that they can’t deliver. Additionally, if a customer asks for credit, it’s important to assess the risk of extending the credit and decide whether it is a good decision for the business. Ultimately, being honest with customers and setting realistic expectations is essential for a successful business.

Yes we can agree that customers are always right but we need to weigh it and be sure that it is right for our business to avoid any problems.
We have to make sure that customers is happy with our products and services. But in the other hand we have to stick to our own rules, of course to avoid problems

I like this this becomes a win win situation. So no body is becoming parasitic.
Before having my own business, i work in big company with so many clients (the big ones) but again we stick to our rules while we make sure that customers were happy with our products or services. I learned from that

This is how it should be, no company should succumb to the plans of any customer against the wish of the company.

Yes, it is. I stil have to learn a lot of things about dealing with clients though. Simple rules that i always do is KYC (know your customers), i learn and read their character and try to handle them with that. Every customers are unique so we have to be more creative and smart with them.

I prefer to be honest to my clients. I'm doing translation work. If I have many jobs on hand, I have to prioritize my jobs. If a client needs me to complete a job on a date I cannot honor, I would tell him/her honestly. I think it's better to let him/her know instead of giving empty promise I cannot fulfil. This would affect mutual trust.

Whenever something isn't right for your business, it's good to say no because when your business will be suffering from your bad decision, you're the only person that's going to face it.
